Monolayer hBN has a very small Raman cross-section, so Raman signals of this material are of very low intensity (compared to that of graphene, for example, or exfoliated multi-layer hBN)

Transfer and handling

  1. Open the outer cleanroom bag in a clean environment; leave the inner vacuum seal intact until transfer.
  2. Handle the foil by its edges with clean tweezers. Do not crease — a fold breaks the monolayer.
  3. For wet transfer, float the coated foil on etchant, then rinse in DI water before lifting onto your substrate.
  4. Dry under nitrogen and bake to remove residual water before device processing.

Packaging and shelf life

Each sheet is vacuum sealed in a clean, inert nitrogen environment. Secondary packaging under positive nitrogen atmosphere, in a moisture-proof, light-proof, static-proof cleanroom bag, preserves the material between uses.

Store sealed, at room temperature, away from light. Open in a clean environment immediately before transfer.
